As a staff and freelance writer, his multifaceted assignments have taken him throughout the United States (notably California, where he lived for two years as television Guide"s Hollywood Bureau Chief), the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe, Latin America and China. His national magazine work has been featured in Canadian Living, Chatelaine and Homemakers. International publications in which his work has appeared include Marie Claire (United Kingdom), Now Magazine (United Kingdom) and You (South Africa).
He is a voting member in good standing of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle.
Currently, Mr. Keyes continues to write special movie reviews for Telus.com in Canada, and internationally for evalu8.org. Together with Anne Garber, Mr.
Keyes has co-authored the best-selling books Victoria"s Best Bargains and Exploring Ethnic Vancouver and an updated version of Cheap Eats Vancouver. Their food and travel writing has appeared in publications as diverse as Canada"s National newspaper, the Globe and Mail, Vancouver"s award-winning Georgia Straight and NUVO, Canada"s answer to the high-end Robb Report.
Most recently, the duo was commissioned to write the Vancouver section of the 2004 Bradman"s Business Guide, the travel bible for business people outbound from the United Kingdom and to contribute to go2HR, the personnel site for British Columbia Hospitality.
The couple also writes a regular international travel column for the Culver City News and they generally judge together at international chili competitions.
