He also did public address for Wilmington, Delaware Blue Rocks minor league baseball (Class A Kansas City Royals). Known for his smooth, easy delivery. He was the Pennsylvania Announcer for the Duke-Kentucky National Collegiate Athletic Association East Region Final in 1992 at the Spectrum when Duke"s Christian Laettner beat Kentucky with his famous buzzer-beater jump shot.
He was also the Pennsylvania announcer for the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men"s Lacrosse Championship.
McAdams was the play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Firebirds of the North American Hockey League from 1974-1977, calling the Firebirds' Lockhart Cup championship win vs. the Beauce Jaros in 1976. The games were broadcast on WRCP-FM.
John McAdams was also the public address announcer for the Jersey Devils of the Eastern Hockey League during the 1964-65 and 1965-66 seasons.
McAdams was inducted in Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame in 2007.
