From the author's blow-by-blow diary kept during his tour of duty with the Eight Air Force, thirty-one bombing missions over Europe during WWII are described. John was born on April 19, 1925, in Pasadena, California, United States. He is the son of John P. (a food company executive) and Edith Irene (a homemaker and writer; maiden name, Lichty) Stewart.
John studied at Stanford University and received a Bachelor of Science in 1948, a Master of Science in 1949 and, finally, Ph.D. in 1953.
John served at U.S. Army Air Forces during 1943-45. He served in England; became the first lieutenant.
He was a research engineer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California during 1949-51. Later, he began to work as an educator. Firstly, he was an assistant professor of electrical engineering at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor during 1953-56; then an associate professor of electrical engineering at University of Southern California, Los Angeles during 1956-59; a professor of electrical engineering at University of Arizona, Tucson during 1959-62.
He founded Santa Rita Technology, Inc. in 1962 and was its president till 1972. During the next ten years, he was a founder and president of Av-Alarm Corp. (makers of acoustic pest repelling equipment).
In 1982 he founded Covox, Inc. In 1990 he became a president of SET, Inc. From 1992 he worked as a professional engineer and consultant.
John L. Stewart is an American engineer and educator, former military. For many years he has worked as a professor of electrical engineering at universities of Michigan, California, Arizona. He also is known as the writer of such works as The Forbidden Diary: A B-24 Navigator Remembers, Fremont’s Greatest Western Exploration, Volume I: The Dalles to Pyramid Lake and others.
