He was the Archdeacon of West Ham from 1975 to 1980, the Bishop of Street Albans from 1980 to 1995 and the Lord High Almoner from 1988 to 1997. Taylor was consecrated on 1 May 1980, enthroned at Street Albans on 14 June 1980 and retired in August 1995. He has authored a number of religious books from a Christian viewpoint.
