John Wall earned a Bachelor of Divinity from Manchester University and Hartley-Victoria Theological College (1952), a Master of Arts from Bristol University, England (1966), and a Doctor of Philosophy from London University (1975).
In 1980 - head of Religious Education and the Humanities Department at New College, Durham, England, John Wall has directed the National Photographic Record in England since its inception as a department of the RPS in 1973. He headed the Department of Religious and Social Studies at Middleton St. George College of Education in Durham from 1968 to 1979 and was a lecturer in divinity at Edge Hill College of Education, Lancashire, England (1966-1968). Having a special interest in the permanency of color photography archives, John Wall developed and patented a video recording system for the storage and reconstitution of color photographic images.
John Wall became a Fellow of the RPS in 1976 and belongs to its Collections Advisory Committee as well as being an Associate of the Royal Historical Society.
