He was also a professor at Rockfeller University during his time as the head of the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology and Cell Biology.
In 1998 he founded a business called "Chang Gung Biotechnology" which focuses upon holistic health. This business also opened a health center named the "Heart Transformation Center" located in Taipei, Taiwan. His business promotes preventative medicine. His goal is to restore health and energy through regular exercise, a nutritional diet and spiritual mindset. Chang Gung Biotechnology sells John Young's many inventions and books, specifically many supplements. The most popular in recent years is the "Huang Mi Ying Liquid Extract", the "Wei Liang Yuan Shu Liquid Extract", alpha & beta water cleaning and energizing balls/ cups, as well as anti-cancer/ obesity supplements derived from mushrooms. Both the aforementioned liquid extracts are said to contain 'trace elements' which Young has claimed to be deficient from the human diet due to the lack of minerals in soil. It can be noted that his scientific philosophy is said to be controversial in the scientific community, as it deviates from both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine.
Spiritual Career
In more recent years he has become a popular spiritual leader, or 'spiritual guru' with a large online presence. Amassing more than 80 thousand followers online through Facebook, YouTube, and an app which he has created, he often promotes many religious ideas, taking inspiration from Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and other popular mainstream religions. It is said that this spiritual work was done within the capacity of his company's name. In addition, he promotes the notion of healthy living to his followers, by encouraging his students to perform the vortex dance or the spiral dance - a dance which he invented, which he claims to have positive health benefits.
In 2020-2021 he launched a new application for mobile devices. This app, called "All Life" contained numerous podcasts of his spiritual teachings, often intertwined with scientific terminology. He has reportedly spoken about the 'big questions in life', such as "What is the purpose of life?" He claims to be spiritually 'enlightened' or 'awakened' from a young age, attributing his genius to his spirituality. Furthermore, he has reportedly spoken about quantum physics, black holes, Hawking radiation (and his contribution to its discovery), dark matter, dark energy, space-time, different universes, the Morphogenic field theory, reincarnation, karma, heaven & hell, angels, dragons, God, and Buddhas. In recent years, he has sold many online spiritual courses delivered as podcasts where he reportedly records during the night, in a forest surrounded by animals. He claims to be able to communicate to these animals via geometric shapes. He has reportedly spoken about how his meditation serves as his rest, and hence he does not need to sleep more than 4 hours a day.
A popular understanding amongst his followers is that the "greatest homework in this life is awakening. Except for it, any other tasks are secondary. It is the highest priority, and it [should be on] your mind from morning till night."
His app allowed his followers to listen to his podcasts 24 hours a day, everyday in the hopes of attaining spiritual enlightenment. A recent addition to this app was educational exercise videos which encouraged his followers to perform these exercises.
His audience largely consists of Mandarin-speaking Taiwanese, or people of the Han ethnicity. He claims that it was the universes' will to prompt him to start preaching in Chinese, despite Chinese being his 'worse' language. He has published many books about spirituality, which he has reportedly claimed to have spoken in audio before his assistant transcribed these audios into these books. He also has written books about his form of yoga/ exercise which he claims has many health benefits, such as structural adjustment of the skeletal system.
