Provides the framework, content and materials for the development of knowledge and skills needed to be an effective general manager. Material deals with the important tasks of implementing strategy through intrafunction integration and provides an opportunity to relate functional area knowledge to the central role of general manager. Not merely a text and cases book, the text is designed to aid both instructor and student; the organization of materials is deliberately designed to follow the hierarchy of educational objectives of Bloom's Taxonomy. This method encourages the development of internally derived analytic frameworks as a means of dealing with multi-dimensional, unstructured situations (which the student will inevitably face) and will help the future manager formulate and implement sound and effective organizational strategies.

This selection of cases is a compilation of the work of a large number of practitioners, authors, and teachers who represent an extremely broad spectrum of backgrounds and interests. In this book, we present to students of management and organizational behavior a variety of situations and settings in which a realistic and pragmatic analysis of specific organizational behavior topics can be conducted. Some of the shorter cases represent narrowly focused topics. The longer, more complex cases, however, as the real-life situations they report, reflect a multitude of topics- interrelating to provide a rich fabric of human forces and behaviors in work organizations.
