QUAYLE, John F. was born on December 1, 1868 in Brooklyn, New York, United States.
He attended local schools, Saint James Academy, and Brooklyn"s Saint Francis College.
Quayle operated a retail butcher business, and later became involved in the construction industry. In 1914 Quayle was appointed Deputy Collector of Internal Revenue for New York"s first district, and he served until 1919. From 1919 to 1923 Quayle was Brooklyn"s Deputy Borough Clerk.
In 1920, Quayle served as an Alternate Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
In 1922 Quayle was the successful Democratic nominee for a seat in Congress. He was reelected four times and served from March 4, 1923 until his death.
Because of his death after the 1930 elections and before the start of the 72nd Congress in 1931, Quayle did not serve the final term to which he had been elected. The seat remained vacant until John Jay Delaney was elected in November 1931.
Quayle died in Brooklyn on November 27, 1930, and was buried at Saint John Cemetery in Queens, New New York
