Admitted to bar, 1871, and practiced at Bedford. Delaware Republican National Convention, Philadelphia, 1900. United State Attorneys, Western District Pennsylvania, April 18, since 1909.

Religion

Salvation requires work. It can only be accomplished through effort, and this is what the Gospel is all about.

Politics

The state should not attempt to control the church, nor should the church seek to dominate the state. The separation of church and state should not be misconstrued as the abolition of all religious expression from public life.

Views

Responsibility for parenting is to encourage social, economic, and religious efforts to maintain and strengthen relationships within families in order that every member may be assisted toward complete personhood.
