John M. Eager, American army officer.


Eager, John M. was born on August 20, 1889 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Son of John M. and Constance (Colclough) Eager.


Student Georgetown College, 1908-1909. Bachelor of Arts, Harvard College, 1912. Graduate F. A. School, 1924, Command and General staff schedul, 1925, Chemical Warfare School, 1933.


Commissioned Second lieutenant, Field Artillery, March 1913, advanced through grades to brigadier general, September 1942. Assistant military attache and military attache chief of Italy 1919-1923. General staff 1937-1943.

Chief of staff and commanding general, 5th Service command (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia), 1940-1943. Organized and commanded Italian Service Units 1944-1945 with headquarters at Fort Wadsworth, New York and units operating at all ports of embarkation, most Army depots, arsenals and numerous centers, posts, camps and stations in the United States. Now Washington representative of Heyden Chemical Corporation Editor United States Field Artillery Journal 1928-1932.
