Ting-yang Wu attended the Military Academy in Kweilin, China from which he was graduated.
Ting-yang Wu joined the 1911 Revolution and took part in the capture of Nanking by the revolutionary forces. Later he returned to Kwangsi and held at different times the following positions: acting chairman of the administrative council of Kwangsi at Nanning, commissioner of reconstruction (in this capacity, he was Responsible for the construction of motor roads and the establishment of army industries in Kwangsi) and commander of the 1st division of the 15th Army Corps of the Revolutionary Army stationed at Liuchow, Kwangsi. He visited Nanking to confer with General Chiang Kai-shek on the problem of rehabilitation of Kwantrsi Province, China in 1930. He appointed associate director of rehabilitation of Kwangsi, China in 1931 and was with the 4th Group Army of Kwangsi.
Mr. Wu was selected member of the lower House in 1918-1920. At different times he also served as counsellor at large and secretary to the Minister of Interior and to the Minister of Agriculture and Commerce and was a member of the China delegation to the Sino-Russian Conference in 1930. Then he was appointed associate director of rehabilitation of Kwangsi, China in 1931, was with the 4th Group Army of Kwangsi, member and concurrently Commissioner of Reconstruction of the Chekiang Provincial Government since December 1935.
