Elected to the Parliament of New South Wales, 1885. Minister for Mines and Agriculture, 1889 and 1901. Elected as the Representative of Riverina in the Federal Parliament, 1901.
Was then elected Chairman of Committees and Deputy Speaker. Member of Royal Commissions on Ocean Shipping and on Stripper Havesters. Deputy-Chairman of Committee for States of New South Wales and Victoria.
Member of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Australia. Member House of Representatives, Justice of the Peace.
