The primary purpose of evaluation is to improve instruction through assessment, communication, and motivation. These three methods for improving instruction are enhanced through a structured process of growth, one that will improve teacher effectiveness and promote student learning. The PGP (Professional Growth Plan) is intended to help improve a teacher's performance. The purpose of this compilation of PGPs is to provide teachers and supervisors with a framework for improvement which can be tailored to meet their individual needs. The PGPs in this document are based upon well-founded educational research and have been validated by an expert jury. Teachers and evaluators should use these PGPs as models, and review them or create new ones. Blank PGP forms are included for that purpose. Fourteen varying programs are included.
