John Robert Mathias, American Gastroenterologist. Achievements include investigation, using myoelectric recording techniques, of nerve and muscle of the small intestine; of patients with unexplained nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain; of myoelectric activity of the small intestine in nonmammalian vertebrates; of the effects of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs on intestinal disease.
