Admitted to New York bar, 1837. Established, edited Cayuga Tocsin. Wrote novelette Alice Howard, 1846, The New Clerk’s Assistant (a volume of practical legal forms which had numerous printings, sold 30,000 copies), 1846.

Wrote, The History of the War Between the United States and Mexico, from the Commencement of Hostilities to the Ratification of the Treaty of Peace (1st account of the struggle between the two republics), 1848.
