Sersam works with rhythmical structures and polymodal harmony. His father Rolf Sersam worked with film and stage music as well as in the progressive rock groupStorm (1973–1977). His mother, Anna-Karin Sersam is an actress and a mime.
Jonatan Sersam entered the Malmö Academy of Music in 2008, where he studied composition until 2015 with Luca Francesconi.
He"s also been studying literature, drama and philosophy at Malmö Högskola and at Lund university.
