Morgan received a Bachelor of Arts at Iona College in 1975. In 1981 Joseph got a Master of Arts at Manhattan College. Finally, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy at Georgetown University in 1993.
Joseph Morgan started his career as an elementary school teacher in New Rochelle, the position he took from 1975 to 1977. From 1977 to 1978 he worked as a middle school teacher at a parochial school in New York City, and during 1985 - 1993 he was a high school teacher in Warwick.
Since 1989 Morgan has been taking the position of an assistant professor of history at Iona College in New Rochelle. He also writes books and works on the research on U.S. foreign relations with twentieth-century East Asia and Vietnam.
