MaryAnn worked as an elementary school teacher in Fallbrook Union Elementary School District, Camp Pendleton Marine Base, California. She also was a teacher in Alaska and worked as an editor, typesetter, and circulation manager for a regional magazine. In 1976-1982 she fished commercially for salmon along the Pacific Northwest.
MaryAnn married Robert A. Knox, but their marriage ended. Then she married a teacher Richard L. Easley. She has four children from her first marriage, Robert, Sherry Erickson, John, and Tracy Knox.
