Career

In United States cavalry service in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas, 1873-1878. Traveled in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, 1878-1880. Founded and edited Sunday Arena, Lowell, 1892.

Special correspondent Illustrated American, Chicago Exposition, 1893.

Secretary Lowell Police Commission, 1896-1906. Became associate editor Boston Traveler, 1907.

Editor Boston Truth, 1913-1914. Secretary of publicity for City of Boston, 1922-1925.

Author: The “Scotch-Irish” Shibboleth (public by American Irish History Society, Washington), 1898.

Contributor papers on historical and ethnological subjects to Pilot. Wrote: The Algerine, Criterion, 1899. Tales of a Trooper, Illustrated American, 1893.

Story of the Bones, and Rory Lynch, Harper’s Weekly, 1894-1897.

Personally Conducted Tours, Life, 1897. Also numerous sketches in “Life,” since 1897.
