Foreign several years he was a campaign leader for Greenpeace United Kingdom, often acting as a spokesperson for the organisation and writing for national newspapers. In 2014 he joined the Institute for Public Policy Research and became Associate Director for energy, transport and climate change. His father, David Garman, is the inventor of the world’s first bath lift and in 2015 was awarded an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to the healthcare industry.
In August 2007 ahead of the Camp for Climate Action, Garman was named in a High Court injunction by airport operator Bachelor of Applied Arts in a bid to prevent environmental protests at Heathrow.
