(Comedian and talk-show host Joy Behar has teamed up with ...)
Comedian and talk-show host Joy Behar has teamed up with illustrator Gene Barretta to create a feisty, lovable character in this cheerful, funny picture book. When Max the mixed-breed meets a pack of snobby purebred dogs in the dog run, he can't understand why they don't want to play with him and his mongrel friends. Determined to get everyone to play together, brainy Max - who is part poodle, after all - comes up with a way to break the ice between the mixed-breeds and the purebreds. America's current obsession with designer dogs makes this book as timely as it is lively.

(Life is full of ups and downs. And while keeping your chi...)
Life is full of ups and downs. And while keeping your chin up may hide a double chin, it won’t improve your mood. Looking on the bright side will make you squint, which will lead to crow’s feet, and there is nothing cheerful about crow’s feet. Listen, if you’re feeling down, it’s going to take a lot more to set things right than insipid platitudes about a cloud with a silver lining. (What is that anyway? Acid rain, or what?) In When You Need a Lift, comedienne Joy Behar and a host of her friends share the simple, silly, profound, and personal things they turn to for comfort when life gets hard. For Joy, it’s her sense of humor and handbags. Not surprisingly, music legend Burt Bacharach turns to songwriting and performing. Kaye Ballard indulges with a big bowl of pasta. Beau Bridges counts his blessings. Former First Lady Barbara Bush finds solace in the work of Jane Austen. Tony Danza plays the ukulele. Larry King recommends laughter - tell a joke, read a funny book; every time you laugh, a little sadness slips away. And that’s some advice you can actually use.

(One of our most beloved comedians, the brilliantly witty ...)
One of our most beloved comedians, the brilliantly witty and outspoken star of The View, hits the most unpopular President ever elected where it hurts - and makes us laugh and cheer - in this hilarious alphabetical guide to everything that’s wrong with the "Orange One," Donald Trump. Put down the knife, lock away the gun, lay aside the noose, Joy Behar is here to save you from suicide as she hot walks you through the next four years (two if we are lucky, less if liberal dreams come true). Besides despair, the sane response to the insanity in the White House is laughter. On her hit ABC daytime show The View, Joy has been blunt in her condemnation of the comb over-in-chief, and her words have electrified and inspired millions in the resistance for whom #notmypresident has become a rallying cry. The Great Gasbag is Joy’s answer to the hell that is the Trump Orange House. Structured as an A-Z guide (G is for Gold... en shower; P is for Pence and pussy-grabbing; T is for Tweets; Twits, and Twats, etc.), Joy, joined by New York Times bestselling humor author Larry Amoros, offers much-needed doses of levity and humor for everyone determined to #resist. With a major network television profile and a social media audience in the millions, this fearlessly confident star has a powerful platform to entertain Americans of all stripes - from Never Trumpers to fired-up progressives - as she takes on the worst president since... well, since ever.

comedian educator host author actress
Joy Behar was born on October 7, 1943, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, United States. She is the daughter of Gino and Rose Occhiuto. Her father was a truck driver at the Coca-Cola Company, while her mother was a seamstress.
Joy Behar attended Washington Irving High School (now Washington Irving Campus). In 1964 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College, City University of New York. In 1966 Behar obtained a Master of Arts degree from Stony Brook University.
After nearly dying from an ectopic pregnancy in 1979, Joy Behar, then a junior high school English teacher, decided to follow her dreams of being in show business. She quit her teaching job and took one as a receptionist with the television program Good Morning America, hoping to get her foot in the door with a network. In the evenings, she performed at New York-area comedy clubs.
The Good Morning America job did not lead to greater things - in fact, Behar was fired in 1983 because she says, she tended to use her dry humor on callers who did not always appreciate it - but she became increasingly popular on the stand-up scene. By the late 1980s, her comedic success was beginning to earn her roles on television and in films. Behar transferred some of her stand-up material to print in Joy Shtick: or. What is the Existential Vacuum and Does It Come with Attachments? (1999). The book opens like a memoir, with Behar discussing the events in her life that propelled her into stand-up, but after that, she deals with the same issues that she covers in her comedy routines: the challenges of middle age. the antics of her Brooklyn-dwelling Italian-American family. the differences between men and women.
In 1984, she took part in The New Show, which ran briefly on NBC. Later that year, she was back on Good Morning America; this time as a guest star. In 1987, Behar got her own talk show, Way Off-Broadway, on Lifetime Television; but it ran for only one season. In the same year, she was a host on Live from Queens. Concurrently, she continued to perform at comedy clubs. Slowly other opportunities began to come her way. In 1988, she played the role of Helga Von Haupt in Baby Boom, a popular NBC sitcom series. In 1989, she appeared as Dottie in the comedy film, Cookie. Meanwhile, she continued to host a popular call-in radio show on New York's WABC and appeared on HBO comedy specials, One Night Stand.
Her popularity continued to grow in the early 1990s, and she was cast in Nora Ephron's film, This is My Life (1992) and Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery (1994). During this period, she also debuted on stage, appearing in the off-Broadway hits like The Food Chain (1995) and The Vagina Monologues (1996). In 1997, Behar became one of the original panel members of the ABC daytime talk show The View, which was co-created by Barbara Walters. Behar originally appeared only on the days when Walters was off, but she ultimately became a permanent co-host. Behar occasionally hosted a segment called Joy's Comedy Corner in which she presented both established and up-and-coming comedians.
She and the cast of female co-hosts earned their first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show host in 2009. While she was still working at The View, she was also a guest host for Larry King Live before getting her own news/talk program on Headline News TV network in 2009. The Joy Behar Show aired between 2009 and 2011. She took her talk show personality to Joy Behar: Say Anything! on the Current TV network in 2012. It was canceled a year later when Current was purchased by Al Jazeera.
Joy Behar has taken the time to write books. Most reflect her comedic personality such as Joy Shtick (Or What is the Existential Vacuum and Does it Come with Attachments) in 1999 and The Great Gasbag: An A-to-Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World which was published in 2017. She also wrote two children's books about a dog titled SheetzuCacaPoopoo. Joy Behar returned to The View in 2015. She also had a weekly late-night talk show on TLC titled Late Night Joy. Behar also lends her voice in animated films such as Ice Age: Continental Drift or appears as herself on various TV shows and movies.
Joy Behar is best known today as one of the co-hosts of The View, a popular television program that features a group of women discussing political and social issues. She has multiple nominations for her role as co-host on The View. She along with her fellow co-hosts has won an Emmy one time. In June 2016, she was inducted into the Brooklyn Walk of Fame at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
