Background
Jury Sergeevich Fatnev was born in Akimovka village, Krasnoshchokovski region, Altay area. His father was a military man, so the family had to move a lot. In 1941 his father was sent to Belarus. During World War II the Fatnevs lived in Starya Dzyatlavichy village, Gomel area. In 1944 J. Fatnev lived in the military unit, where his father served (Rouna town). Jury was seriously ill. Over ten years he spent in hospitals in Belarus and Kazakhstan, lived at the apiary in the Alatau Mountains. He
stadied at school by fits and starts, when he was able to leave hospitals. In 1967 J. Fatnev moved to Gomel, then he lived in Bryansk (1970-1985), in Gatchin near Leningrad (1985-1990). Now he lives in Gomel.
