Juzo Ueda was born in 1886 in Kyoto, Japan.
Juzo Ueda graduated from the Philosophy Department of Kyoto University in 1912. Made special study of aesthetics and history of art. Later he received the degree of Doctor of Literature.
Ueda went to Europe from 1925 to 1927. He was an appointed professor at Kyushu University upon return. Retired under age limit in 1947. Among his works are "Visual Structure," "Existence of Art and Literature" and "After Cezanne."
