Education
He got higher education in the University of Vilnius (1794). He studied at the Universities of Frankfurt and Keningsberg for 2 years. He listened to I. Kant's lectures. He translated some of his scientific works into Polish and published them. ( "To Eternal light", in 1796). In 1806 he stopped his studies in philosophy, because of his military service in the French troops.
Career
As the result of his military service there appeared his new work" Sheets about war and soldier's duty" (1809). Having been discharged from the Army he worked as an official. He translated French publication "Civil procedure and motivation to Napoleon's code into Polish". He participated in the war against Russia. For some time after the war he lived in Warsaw, then he went to Vilnius, where he devoted himself to science. In order to get a chair of philosophy in the main school in Warsaw he published the work "The word about Philosophy...". He got the post as the result of the contest. Byhavets continued his instructive activity. His philosophical views were built up under the influence of Kant. F. Butervek revalued Kant's philosophy in the sphere of antropologism and psychological analysis. Byhavets is the author of the work "Examination of Russia Historically, Statistically, Materially, Scientifically" (1817) etc. He translated works by Lafonten, W. Irwing, Gerder etc. He was buried in Vilnius.
