Kaganojo Uji was born in 1635 in Wakayama, Japan.
Kaganojo Uji learnt joruri recitation from Kunai Isejima and thereafter took to himself the name of Kadayu Uji.
Originated a new way of recital deriving it from the style of Harima-no-jo, a master reciter at that time. Was conferred the title of Kaga-no-jo (1677). His recitals were free, fluent and rhythmic, which made him very popular.
