Kaneaki Toyohara was born in 1285 in Japan.
According to the legend Kaneaki Toyohara was so overcome with grief at the death of a dear friend that he before his tombstone, cut his koto (Japanese zither) with a sword and as such all secret music died with it. The legend also says that during the invasion of Kyoto by Takatoki Hojo (1331) it was he and others who carried the Emperor to safety on a palanquin.
