He studied traditional Japanese watercolor painting under Kimihiro Kataoka and later under Seiho Takeuchi. Further studied Chinese painting of the South School and became distinguished in it. Was a frequent prize winner at the Bunten or the annual art exhibition sponsored by the Education Ministry.
Career
Was appointed a Court artist and a member of the Art Academy. One of the leading artists of his time.
