Lord, who stands 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in), competed as one of the nine finalists in her country"s national beauty pageant, Mission Guyana Universe 2011, gaining the right to represent her country in Mission Universe 2011. As the official representative of Guyana to the 2011 Mission Universe pageant, broadcast live from São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011, Lord vied to succeed Mission Universe titleholder, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico.
