Baden received an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle in 1979, where he studied with Joseph Jachna, and a BA in Fine Arts (Photography) from Syracuse University in 1975 (magna cum laude).
Baden was teaching photography at the Boston Center for Adult Education and Project Art Center. He has also developed a photography program for the disabled at the Walter E. Femalcl School in Waltham, Massachusetts. Other teaching experience includes instructing photography at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle 1978-79, and at Light Work in Syracuse, New York, 1976-77.
Baden was a recipient of a Light Work Fellowship for Photographers in 1975.
Working in 35mm black-and-white and sometimes adding hand coloring, Baden has been involved with a series of self-portraits entitled SelfImages since 1978.
