He served in the Department of Military Settlements, he was the general-major.
The author of the complex of buildings project of the Voronezh Mikhailovsky Cadet Corps (the main three-story building, the director's house, two wings, an infirmary, a barracks for soldiers and an arena), approved by Emperor Nicholas I (July 10, 1837).
Dettloff arrived in Voronezh in the spring of 1837. The laying of the main building took place on September 14, 1837, construction was carried out in 1840-1845. The Voronezh Mikhailovsky Cadet Corps was opened on November 8, 1845, the completion of the wings and other services was conducted until the end of the 1850s.
