Katsunoshin Yamanashi graduated from Naval Cadet School (1907).
Katsunoshin Yamanashi was appointed sub lieutenant (1909). Served as commander of warship Katori; promoted to Rear-Admiral (1921), chief of the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, director of Naval Fleet Administration Headquarters, Vice-Minister of Navy.
He visited Europe (1930); appointed Commander-in-Chief of Sasebo Naval Base (1931) and later of Kure Naval Base; promoted to full Admiral (1932) and in the same year appointed military councilor. Became reserve officer (1933), and appointed president of the Peers' School. After the war, purged but later reinstated.
