Kayo Yamaguchi was born on October 3, 1899 in Kyoto, Japan.
Kayo Yamaguchi graduated from Kyoto Painting Professional School. Studied under Goun Nishimura.
He painted such noted works as Asatsuyu (Morning Dew) displayed at the 12th Bunten Exhibition (1931) and Shirai Uma (White Horse) at the 8th Nitten Exhibition. With a sketch-based painting style, he specialized in representations of animals. In 1981 he was awarded the Japanese order of culture.
