After graduating from Naval Engineering College served briefly as a sublieutenant, but resigned to leave for America and Europe to continue his studies. Kazunobu Kanokogi was professor at Kyoto University (1926) and during the war worked for the militarists and advocated nationalistic philosophy. Among his works is "Philosophy of the Japanese Spirit."
