Takizawa Keiichi was born in 1884 in Tokyo, Japan.
Soon after Takizawa worked with the Yokohama Specie Bank and was assigned to Lyons in 1909. He has spent 45 years in France, marrying a French woman. Takizawa was stationed most of the time at the Lyons Branch, except for several years when he worked at the Bombay and Shanghai branches. He retired in 1935.
Starting from 1930, he contributed essays to Gakushi Kai Monthly and other publications. A compilation of his essays were published from Iwanami Book Company titled "Correspondence from France" (1937) which was hailed by the public. He followed this with a second series (1938), third series (1940) and it has since run up into 10 volumes. The essays depict the daily life of the French people.
