Keikichi Ishii was born in 1899. He was the eldest son of Toemon Ishii.
After graduating from Tokyo University with a degree in architecture (1891), stayed behind as assistant professor, and then was sent to America for further studies (1899-1900).
Keikichi Ishii was engineer for Takumi-ryo (Board of Construction) (1907), but resigned to join a private architect's office. Among the famous buildings designed by him are Teikoku (Imperial) Theatre, Osaka Mitsukoshi and the Industrial Club.
