Joined the Finance Ministry. Was ap¬pointed secretary to Minister of Finance and councilor of Monopoly Bureau. Appointed financial commissioner abroad in America, France, and U.K. (1909). Played an active part in the Reparations Commission of the Versailles Conference. Represented Japan in various financial and economic conferences of the League of Nations. After the Great Kanto Earthquake (1923) was dispatched to Europe to raise a loan. Became a member of the House of Peers (1927). In the same year, entered the business world and became director of Japan Electric Bond Co., an adviser to Tokyo Electric Bond Co. and Toho Electric Co. Represented Japan at Reparations Commission on Germany at Paris.
