Kenz Ikeda was born in Ta]ima, Hyogo Prefecture.
Began his career in Tokyo Municipal Office (1874) and then saw service in turn with the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Finance.
Resigning from Government service, entered the silk business (1880) and shortly after joined The Hundredth Bank (1883) and soon replaced Rokuro Hara as managing director of the Bank. Later was also director of Tokyo Savings Bank.
