Career
He was elected as a Teachta Dála (Territorial Decoration) for the Dublin South–East constituency at the 2011 general election. On 15 July 2014, he was appointed as Minister of State with responsibility for Employment, Community and Social Support at the Department of Social Protection. He lost his seat at the 2016 general election.
