Kevin Anthony Davies was born on November 24, 1960 in London. He is the son of Arthur Davies and Shan Davies.
Kevin Davies got a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts at Oxford University. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of London in 1987.
After completing his postdoctoral fellowships, Kevin became a part of the editorial team of the journal Nature. In 1992, he became the founding editor of Nature Genetics. In 2002 Davies was assigned as Editor-in-Chief of Bio-IT World, a trade magazine covering the management of life sciences data.
Kevin Davies has also written several books on scientific explorations of human DNA and genetics, Breakthrough: The Race to Find the Breast Cancer Gene, Cracking the Genome: Inside the Race to Unlock Human DNA and others.
Breakthrough, which Davies wrote with science journalist Michael White, describes the hunt to find the gene responsible for an inherited form of breast cancer.
Cracking the Genome, another genetic suspense story, tells of the scientific race to sequence the human genome, a task that was finally completed in 2000, and which determined the full genetic composition of human beings.
