Kirill Vladimirovich Molchanov was a Russian and Soviet composer.


Molchanov, Kirill was born on September 7, 1922 in Moscow.


Graduated from the Composition Class of the Moscow Conservatory, 1949. Pupil of A. N. Aleksandrov.


He was appointed director of the Bolshoi, at the time political disfavour had fallen on the lead soprano Galina Vishnevskaya.
