He studied to become a medical doctor.
Career
Kale died at age 37 in a car accident. In 1994, he wrote his autobiography Kolhatyacha Por (कोल्ह्याट्याचा पोर) in Marathi. lieutenant was translated into several Indian languages, and also English under the title Against All Odds.
The Hindi translation was published under the title Kilhati Ka Chhokra (किल्हाटी का छोकरा).
