Ueda Kiyoji was born in Kobe, Japan in 1902.
Kiyoji Ueda served successively at Singapore Branch and as New York Agent of Kawahara Shoten Company and staff member of its head office. Also, he worked at Nomura Store in Singapore of Nomura Gomei Kaisha (Nomura Unlimited Partnership) and Nomura East Indies Industrial Production Company affiliated with Nomura Unlimited Partnership.
Kiyoji Ueda became a manager in 1934 and then a director in 1936 of Nomura Store in Singapore. Later he was appointed general manager of the Malay District of Nomura East Indies Industrial Production Company, manager of Malay Branch and managing director of the same company. Subsequently, he became the president of Oya Industrial Company and Nomura Boeki Kaisha (Nomura Trading Company).
In 1951, he established and became president of Shin-Nomura Trading Company. Ueda held additional posts of chief director of Kobe Rubber Exchange and director of Japan-Indonesia Association.
