Kojo Tanaka was born in 1924 in Ihara-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Education

Tanaka graduated from Hokkaido University's Department of Fisheries in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, Japan in 1944.

Career

A freelance photographer since 1953, he has photographed wildlife all over the world. He worked as board of World Wide Fund for Nature Japan (WWFJ), commissioner of Natural Parks FoundationHe was awarded the annual prize of the Photographic Society of Japan in 1971 and the Special Prize from the Japanese Society of Photographic Critics in 1964.

Membership
