Responding to an appeal of Prince Morinaga (Daito-no-miya), he and Korenao Aso , Chief Pries t of the As o Grand Shrine, rose against Takauji Ashikaga. They fought also anti-Imperialist clans including the Shoni, Isshiki and Nikki families. Consistently loyal to the South Imperial Dynasty, Korezumi was much trusted by Prince Kanenaga, who bestowed him high ranks.
