After graduating from the Tokyo Academy of Music in 1908, Kosaku Yamada continued his studies at Berlin State Institute of Music (1910-1914).
Kosaku Yamada founded Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in 1929 and Japan Symphonic Orchestra in 1939. He was also connected with Columbia Record Company, Takarazuka Girls' Operetta Troupe and several cultural organizations. A grand fete was held in Tokyo to celebrate his Golden Anniversary as a composer (1950).
