Kosuke Komatsu studied at The Tokyo Academy of Music, which he graduated from in 1906.
After graduating from The Tokyo Academy of Music was appointed professor at Peers School. Kosuke Komatsu formed the Gakuenkai, which researched on opera, together with Yamada Gen'ichiro in 1906 and wrote and composed Hagoromo, Japan's first real opera.
Komatsu became the editing director for the magazine "Ongakukai" in 1908. Proceeded to Europe to study modern music and composition (1920). Returning home after three years (1923) besides teaching, began composing and reviewing music, earning for nimself a reputation as a central figure in musical circles. Founded He became chief director of Japan Composers' and Japan Music associations.
Among his compositions are "Serenad" and "Sarano-Ki." Has also composed many songs for children. Among his works are "Modern French Music," "Knowledge of Western Music" and "Out-line of History of Western Music."
