Career
While working in the silk cocoon industry took an active part in local politics. Became a village headman and later a member of Prefectural Assembly. Has held a series of posts on committees connected with agriculture and was elected to Diet seven times as a member of Jiyu- Minshuto (Liberal-Democratic Party). Be¬came Minister of Agriculture in 3rd Yo-shida Cabinet.
