Lucius received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota in 1994. Five years later she earned her Doctor of Law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Lucius began her career as a judicial law clerk at the United States Court of Federal Claims in 1999. A year later she took the same position at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Then in 2001, Kristine held a position of an associate at Jenner & Block LLP.
In 2002, she became a senior counsel at the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Two years later Lucius was appointed a chief counsel for civil justice at the same committee. Also in 2006, she took a position of a general counsel and deputy staff director at the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Then in 2013, Kristine was a chief counsel and staff director at that committee. Since 2017 she has served as an executive vice president and director of policy at Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.
She is an expert on judicial and executive nominations and many other complex legislative issues, including comprehensive immigration reform, online privacy, cyber security, criminal justice reform, civil justice reform, bankruptcy, antitrust and prescription drug pricing.
