Kylie Minogue is an Australian-British singer, recording artist, songwriter, and actress. She has given many hit albums to the world, like: 'Kylie,' 'Kylie Minogue,' 'Fever,' 'Rhythm of Love,' 'Body Language,' etc. She has worked in many movies as well. Her concerts are considered to be iconic and she is a style icon all over the world.
Background
Ethnicity:
Kylie's father is Australian, and has Irish ancestry, while her mother came from Maesteg, Wales.
Kylie Minogue was born on May 28, 1968, in Melbourne, Australia, to an accountant called Ronald Charles Minogue and a former stage dancer from Wales, Australia Carol Ann Minogue. She was raised in Surrey Hill in Melbourne. She was the eldest of the three children. Kylie belonged to a middle-class family.
Education
With her younger sister Dannii, Kylie went to Canterbury Primary School and then completed her schooling from Camberwell High School, Melbourne, Australia. By the time completing her high school, she had already broken into the glamour world. So, she couldn't continue her studies further.
For her work in raising awareness for breast cancer, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Health Science degree by Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom.
After beginning her career as a child actress on Australian television, Kylie Minogue achieved recognition through her role in the television soap opera Neighbours, before commencing her career as a recording artist in 1987. Her first single, "Locomotion," spent seven weeks at number one on the Australian singles chart and became the highest-selling single of the decade. This led to a contract with songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman. Her debut album, 'Kylie' (1988), and the single "I Should Be So Lucky," each reached number one in the United Kingdom, and over the next two years, her first 13 singles reached the British top ten. Her debut film, The Delinquents (1989) was a box-office hit in Australia and the United Kingdom and received generally positive reviews.
Initially presented as a "girl next door," Minogue attempted to convey a more mature style in her music and public image. Her singles were well received, but after four albums her record sales were declining, and she left Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1992 to establish herself as an independent performer. Her next single, "Confide in Me," reached number one in Australia and was a hit in several European countries in 1994, and a duet with Nick Cave, "Where the Wild Roses Grow," brought Minogue a greater degree of artistic credibility. Drawing inspiration from a range of musical styles and artists, Minogue took creative control over the songwriting for her next album, 'Impossible Princess' (1997). It failed to attract strong reviews or sales in the United Kingdom but was successful in Australia.
Minogue returned to prominence in 2000 with the single "Spinning Around" and the dance-oriented album 'Light Years,' and she performed during the closing ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her music videos showed a more sexually provocative and flirtatious personality and several hit singles followed. "Can't Get You Out of My Head" reached number one in more than 40 countries, and the album 'Fever' (2001) was a hit in many countries, including the United States, a market in which Minogue had previously received little recognition. In 2003, she launched her own lingerie range called 'Love Kylie.'
Minogue embarked on a concert tour but canceled it when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. After surgery and chemotherapy treatment, she resumed her career in 2006 with 'Showgirl: The Homecoming Tour.' Her tenth studio album 'X' was released in 2007 and was followed by the KylieX2008 tour. In 2009, she embarked upon her 'For You, For Me Tour,' her first concert tour of the United States and Canada, and the following year released her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite.
In 2010, Kylie released her studio album called 'Aphrodite.' The album was executively produced by Stuart Price who also participated in the songwriting process of the album along with Kylie, Calvin Harris, Jake Shears, Nerina Pallot, Pascal Gabriel, Lucas Secon, Tim Rice-Oxley and Kish Mauve. In 2011, she got on her tour 'Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour' and traveled to Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. This was the biggest tour of her life.
In 2012, Minogue began "K25" - a year-long celebration for her 25 years in the music industry. In October that year, she released the compilation album, 'The Abbey Road Sessions.' The album contained reworked and orchestral versions of her previous songs.
Minogue kept up her breakneck pace the rest of 2015, appearing on Giorgio Moroder's single "Right Here, Right Now" and hitting the top of the dance charts with a spot on Nervo's "The Other Boys." She had roles in the ABC Family show 'Young & Hungry' and the film San Andreas, released an EP with producer Fernando Garibay titled 'Kylie + Garibay,' and finally, in November, ended the year with her first full holiday album, 'Kylie Christmas.' In the summer of 2016, Minogue returned with a contribution to the Absolutely Fabulous movie, the theme song "This Wheel's on Fire."
Minogue signed to BMG in 2017 and began working on a new album, her 14th. Recovering from heartbreak, Minogue took the suggestion from one of her team to try writing and recording in Nashville. For the first time in her career, she co-wrote all the songs and teamed with writers and musicians there (and a team of producers in London including Biffco and Sky Adams) to craft a sound that was a hybrid of modern country and her more traditional dance-pop. The resulting record, 'Golden,' was released in April 2018. The following year saw the arrival of 'Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection,' Minogue's fifth major greatest-hits album. The compilation featured 42 tracks, including the previously unreleased "New York City," which was recorded during the sessions for Golden.
Kylie Minogue is an outstanding dancer, songwriter, singer, and actress. She is famous for her appearance in Neighbours, one of the popularly viewed soap operas all over the world. Her road to success started when one of the episodes of her TV series received nearly 20 million views in the United Kingdom, making it the top episode ever with the biggest view count. She is also known as the top recording artist who has worked so hard to achieve commercial success. Minogue is the most popular and the number one best selling Australian artist knew in the history of humankind.
She was awarded the degree of OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the 2008 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to Music.
Minogue got the honor of being appointed as a "Chevalier" (knight) of the "Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Government, the junior grade of France's highest cultural honor, for her contribution to the enrichment of French culture.
In 2011, 'I Should Be So Lucky' was added to the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's Sounds of Australia registry. In November the same year, on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ARIA Music Awards, Kylie Minogue was inducted by the Australian Recording Industry Association into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Minogue's religious views run the gamut from Christian ethics to Eastern philosophy - and she can be quite articulate. But the thread that runs through her narrative is one of deep spirituality. Once, when she was asked if it is important to be a good person, Minogue responded with the New Testament platitude: "Do unto others.."
Still, she goes much deeper, invoking Hindu and Buddhist karma and reincarnation at times and even speaking of the virtues of balance, a la Yin and Yang. Minogue said:
"I can't think that this is all there is… I believe in a universal power. That’s how I would define spirituality: as something universal that we don’t understand but that somehow governs and guides the aspects of our being that aren't merely physical… I believe I came from somewhere and that I'm going somewhere beyond this life so therefore I must have lived before."
Politics
Minogue is not outspoken about political issues.
Views
First of all, despite being an international star (particularly in England), Minogue holds a special place in her heart for her home country of Australia, saying things like:
"Everyone knows how much Australia means to me. I try to get back here as much as I can, but normally it's for work, so I'm in and out and jetlagged and stressed."
Her most controversial statement was about her views of gay marriage. She said:
"Well, I think [gay marriage] should be allowed! I mean, how many countries have caught up with it by now? The earth didn’t cave in. If it’s love, it’s love. And that's it. That's all that matters."
Quotations:
"I'm just a natural flirt, but I don't see it in a sexual way. A lot of the time I'm like an overexcited puppy."
"I'm trying to be myself more and more. The more confidence you have in yourself... the more you realize that this is you, and life isn't long. So get on with it!"
"Having had cancer, one important thing to know is you're still the same person at the end. You're stripped down to near zero. But most people come out the other end feeling more like themselves than ever before."
"I know there will be X amount of women being diagnosed. I love to say, You can get through it. You can."
"I just want to do everything. I don't want to sound soppy or too cliched, but that's the way it is."
"The reason that gets me is, and the greatest part of my job and what I do, is the humanity of it and there are certain moments where that really cuts through."
"My life has always been geared towards my career. If my life is complete in other ways then I don't mind being a 65-year-old spinster. But I don't discount love when I'm talking about not getting married. I could... it's just something I haven't wanted to do yet."
"One important thing to know is you're still the same person during it. I'm more eager than ever to do what I did. I want to do everything."
"I feel more inspired than ever, and think that I will finally achieve what I have long been wishing for: a balance of work and privacy - a harmony."
"You need a lot of luck to find people with whom you want to spend the rest of your life. Some people manage to find their soul mate. Others don't. I think love is like a lottery."

Personality
When Kylie was a girl, she'd spend hours dressing up in her best party frock and miming along to ABBA records using a broom handle as a microphone. Decades later, she got to sing 'Dancing Queen' to a live global audience of more than 4 billion at the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. In an exclusive interview, she described that experience: "What I mostly remember from my performance at Sydney 2000 is fear. Fear, excitement, and also pride. The pride in the country was so immense at the time. To be in the stadium, center stage and know it’s being broadcast to four billion people; it was just such an honor."
When Kylie flew to the United Kingdom for her first meeting with music svengalis Stock, Aitken and Waterman, they forgot she was coming so hadn’t prepared anything. As a result, they wrote 'I Should Be So Lucky' in 40 minutes while she was waiting in reception. She then recorded it around the same time.
Michael Hutchence wrote INXS hit Suicide Blonde about Kylie, who he was dating at the time. She had to dye her hair platinum blonde for The Delinquents and said to him, "I'm going suicide blonde today."
