Achievements include discovery of antimicrobial compounds in both fresh and heated cabbage, isolation of bacteria resistant to antibacterial activity of garlic. Recipient Outstanding Research Achievement award The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Society, 1999. Served with Korean Navy, 1969-1972. Member Institute Food Technologists (professional), American Society for Microbiology.
